Hi folks, I was just wondering if anyone knows if the Nordstrand Big Singles will fit (work) on a Dingwall 5 string. I've been thinking about possibly switching out my Bartolini's for the Big Singles (I have 1999 VooDoo 5).

The Big Split is a split coil version of Nordstrands Big Single. It gives you the same big, full tone you find with the Big Single, but with hum cancelling properties!

Must investigate further as I'm looking for something similar to the Big Singles. If they're split you should be able to switch between series and parallel. I own an Ibanez SR1205 which has Nordstrand big singles and until recently also owned an SR605 with Bartolini's - this being my back up bass. From experience of extensively gigging and rehearsing with both I concur with your perception the Nordstrand's are definitely a significant step up from the Barts and generally sound much richer all round. Wow, I'm surprised that Nordstrand calls it a hi-gain pickup. As an added bonus, with this Big Single your bass won't have 60 cycle hum when you run both
